CIMS 4 is a two-day, scenario-rich course designed for individuals who hold, or may step into, a designated emergency response role within their organisation.

Building on CIMS 3, this course strengthens your understanding of the CIMS framework and focuses on practical leadership, real-time decision-making, and team coordination under pressure.
Delivered face-to-face or in a virtual classroom, CIMS 4 is tailored to your specific organisation, ensuring relevance and real-world application.

  • In-depth understanding of CIMS principles, functions and structure

  • Clear definition of IMT roles, responsibilities and sub-functions

  • Crisis communication, leadership and team coordination in emergency situations

  • Unit Standard 29553 – Demonstrate operational knowledge of NZ’s CIMS

  • Assessments are both online and scenario-based (in-classroom)

  • Certificate issued upon successful completion
