CIMS 3 is a practical, one-day introduction to the Coordinated Incident Management System – New Zealand’s national framework for emergency response. This course is ideal for staff who may be involved in an emergency response or who support those with designated incident management roles.
Through real-world scenarios, group exercises and hands-on learning, participants will gain an understanding of how CIMS works and how they fit into a wider incident response team.

  • The principles, structure, and terminology of the CIMS framework

  • How Incident Management Teams (IMTs) operate, including key roles and responsibilities

  • Use of CIMS documentation, facilities, and briefings

  • Hands-on scenario practice with IMT roles
